You will need 4 cups of stock, 2 stalks of celery (diced), 1 onion (diced), a small turnip (diced), 3/4 -cup barley, and 1/4 Savoy cabbage (finely shredded). Bring the stock to a boil and then add all the vegetables except for the cabbage. Season and simmer for about 25 to 30 minutes. Stir in the cabbage, simmer for 5 more minutes. Serve immediately. </span></p>

For me it almost always comes from work and client demands for my time and various deadlines to get things done. I’m sure for others that family matters might be the thing that life throws their way and derail their healthy living routines. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;">Just this past week I had an extraordinary conflux of projects all due at or around the same time. This caused me to put my exercise routine on hold and not get the amount of sleep I need. And while it did have an impact on </span><a href="http://fitnessweightlosscenter.com/diets/making-healthy-food-choices/" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;">my healthy eating</span></a><span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;"> it was not as horrific as it has been in the past. I did not use the additional stress and time constraints as an excuse to abandon my healthy eating habits. <strong>By keeping only healthy foods and snacks in my home made it relatively easy to stay on track</strong>. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>This brings up an important fundamental to healthy eating – do not stock your kitchen with cookies, bags of potato chips and ice cream. Instead substitute fruit, raw vegetables, nuts and popcorn (no butter).</strong> So if the stress of life steers you to the kitchen for food you will only find healthy alternatives. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;">Now as far as exercise goes I need some help with developing a strategy and mindset that will get me to stick to my routine no matter what. I know a lot of people exercise first thing in the morning and I’ve read many fitness experts recommend getting your exercise in early. I just have a difficult time exercising when I wake up. I usually exercise in the afternoon or early evening but this time leaves me open to putting my routine on hold to get work done. <strong>I think for me it comes down to priorities and mindset and I need to work on <a href="http://fitnessweightlosscenter.com/fitness/learn-about-the-effects-of-exercise/" target="_blank">moving exercise up to my number one priority</a></strong>.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;">Getting the right amount of sleep is another area that gets impacted when I have 107 things on my to-do list. I often sacrifice sleep for additional time working on various projects. <strong>And I know that just like my body needs good food and exercise it also needs <a href="http://fitnessweightlosscenter.com/health/tips-for-living-a-healthy-lifestyle/" target="_blank">the proper amount of sleep to function at its best</a></strong>. This is the most difficult one for me to come to terms with – how to I get done what I need to get done and still get 7 solid hours of sleep each night? I’m not sure I have an answer except that if I do not postpone my exercise routine I think I will find it easier to get the right amount of sleep no matter the time constraints of projects at work.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;">The one thing I always remember is that when life does get in the way it is only a bump in the road and nothing more. <strong>If you find that the pressures of work or family are causing you to abandon you healthy lifestyle habits you need to look inwards and ask yourself why and what can I do about it</strong>.
