Mention "workout" and most people will tend to separate exercises for men from those for women. The reality is that men and women have many different physical body traits. On average, men tend to be physically stronger in the upper body areas. That’s not to say that women can’t compete with this strength; there are many cases of females with the same upper body strength as very fit men. For some reason, most men focus their efforts on their upper body areas and forget about other areas.
On the other hand, women tend to focus their exercises on the lower areas, such as the buttocks and the leg muscles. One reason for this may be to increase their physical beauty. Popular training programs for women tend to work on tightening and toning these parts of the body.
Exercises for women are also slightly different due to their shape and physical make up. For example, for women to do squats effectively, they wouldn’t need to go so low and could benefit from keeping the legs apart and feet pointing outwards. This is due to the larger size of their waists.
Females tend to carry more body fat and have less muscle mass on average then men. Because of these factors, it is important to design a specific training program for women, which will optimize the results of a workout. Men are much more bulky and have more tissue and muscle surrounding their joints. This means they are also less flexible than women and have a limited range of movement in comparison.
There is no need for men and women to be limited by these boundaries, as long as they are aware of these limitations, men and women can work towards improving on them.
It has been found that women are less self conscious when it comes to trying new things. They will happily try a new form of Pilates or yoga and gain the benefits of these forms of exercise. On the other hand, men tend to be limited by their pride and egos, opting for the more manly option, such as weights.
Yoga is a great exercise to help build muscles that you may not even know you had. By putting yourself in certain positions, you help to strengthen groups of muscle tissue that provide your body with good balance. Pilates, an exercise similar to yoga, helps a person identify and control particular muscles. This is done though moving your body into certain positions and breathing exercises.
Both of these two forms of fitness programs have become more and more popular in the past few years. People have discovered its wonderful de-stressing qualities and realized that it can help bring balance to their bodies and mind. Men and women seem to be drawn to different forms of exercise, with women preferring more complex exercises and men opting for the rougher strength exercises.
