The following is a great power yoga routine that will help you warm up your muscles prior to starting your regular exercise routine. The power yoga workout is also a good workout on its own because it stretches your muscles, improves your breathing, and gives you strong arms, legs, chest, and back.
You have to do the power yoga moves slowly and keep breathing. Don’t rush. Begin by standing up with your arms by your side. Take a deep breathe in and look toward the ceiling while raising your arms as if to touch the sky.
Then, bend forward while you exhale and bring your hands down to the floor. Your legs should be straight while you do this, which is why stretching is so important. It will take time to do this with your legs completely straight. Bring your head close to your body and focus on looking between your legs. If possible, put your palms flat on the floor.
Now, breathe in and staying in that position bring your head up to look in front of you. Exhale and walk your feet back until you are supported by your arms. After some practice, you may be able to jump back into push up position.
While breathing in, bring your stomach down to near the floor and put your feet flat on the floor, stretching your body upwards. Look up towards the ceiling while stretching the muscles in your neck. Exhale and put your feet flat on the floor and lift your butt up as high as you can. Now focus on looking between your legs while you are in this inverted V position.
Breathe in and walk forward with your feet so you are back with your legs straight and hands touching the floor with your head near your body looking ahead. Exhale and put your head down so you can look between your legs.
Breathe in and stretch as you stand up and reach towards the sky with your head looking towards the ceiling. Exhale and go back to the position you began in with your hands down by your legs. That is one set of power yoga. You want to work on getting up to five sets at a time.
The key to power yoga is to focus on breathing. Breathe in slowly so you inhale as much air as you can and exhale slowly as well bringing your stomach in towards your back so you get rid of all that air. It is a good idea to do these power yoga moves when you get up so you start your day right.
