Our bodies consist of more than 75% water and water is essential to our survival. If a human goes more than 3 days without water, he is going to end up dying. Today, many of us drink a lot of sugary drinks instead of water, which is a big problem. If you want to be your healthiest and live a long and productive life, you need to drink plenty of water.

The amount of water you need to consume will depend on how much exercise you are doing, your weight, and the weather. As many as 66% of adults are not drinking enough water every day. When you consume the recommended amount of water, your body is hydrated and is able to work effectively.

A lot of people don’t think to drink water until we get thirsty. It is important to know that this is not a good way of telling when your body needs water. If you are thirsty, you are already missing about two or more cups of the water your body needs. You need to drink water throughout the day every day.

You should not replace the water you need with alcoholic or caffeinated beverages. If you do this, you are going to actually be losing more water because you will urinate frequently. It may seem like these beverages are quenching your thirst but you lose the liquid very quickly so you gain nothing. Water is the best thing you can drink!

When you are exercising, you have to drink lots of water. You perspire, which means you are losing water and need to replace it. Your body needs 2 cups of water for every pound you lose through exercise. Your body also loses water when you are sleeping so it is a good idea to have a glass of water before bed to keep your body functioning properly all night and in the morning.

It is also important that anytime you are feeling ill you consume more water than you normally wood. A cold or flu can make you dehydrated so you need to be sure to drink plenty of water at these times.
People have different opinions on the benefits of purified water. You are going to have to make your own decision in this subject by doing your own research.

Make sure you are drinking plenty of water every single day. Have a glass or bottle of water with you wherever you go so you can drink it constantly. Work on choosing water instead of other not so healthy beverages that don’t give your body the nutrients it needs.
