Nutrition is the key to a healthier you. People generally think that nutrition takes a lot of effort and time. If you know where to look and what to change in your diet, you will have a much easier time in incorporating nutritious food into your diet. If you feel like you don’t have enough energy to get through the day, try eating more fruits, vegetables, and grains. These foods are filled with vitamins and minerals. They also have a very low fat content, and are a great source of complex carbohydrates. They will help you get through you tired part of the day.

Try not to drink too many cups of coffee in a day. The high level of caffeine from an excess amount of coffee can lead to undesirable health symptoms, such as nervousness, excessive jitters, and the inability to fall asleep at night. Because of the many undesirable effects, you should limit your coffee to no more than four cups a day.

Even if you’re not a dedicated vegetarian, you can improve your nutritional profile by having a vegetarian meal 2-3 times per week.  It will lower your consumption of unhealthy animal fats, will cost less, and will likely taste just as delicious as one of your meat-based meals – plus it’s good for the planet.

When you are craving a glass of fruit juice, you should consider having a small piece of fresh fruit instead.  This will curb your craving and it will also keep you full for much longer.  If you must drink fruit juice, try to drink a diet or 100 percent natural version.

When possible, choose wild salmon over farmed salmon. Both types offer nutritional benefits, but wild salmon has higher nutritional value. Farmed salmon may be overexposed to antibiotics and pesticides that farmers add to the water. Some farmed salmon may even have artificial coloring injected into the meat to give it a more attractive orange hue. With wild salmon, you do not have these risks.

Switching out your ground beef with ground turkey has a ton of health benefits, though many people complain about the dryness. To overcome this problem, add some extra virgin olive oil and onions to your turkey and it will enhance the juices. You will be eating less fat in your meat, and still getting an excellent flavor.

Treat yourself to some dark chocolate now and then. Not only is dark chocolate delicious, but more studies are showing that the cocoa content in dark chocolate can have beneficial effects on the heart. The flavanols in cocoa can also reduce blood pressure. The important thing is to eat it in moderation because the sugar and fat in chocolate can lead to weight gain.

The above tips are great guidelines to help you see where you can make improvement in your current diet. Nutrition doesn’t take too much effort on your part, especially if you plan out what you will eat ahead of time. Don’t let the word faze you out, it’s just a word!
